Abington Falls to Gators in United East Contest

Baltimore, Md. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team dropped a United East Conference (UEC) contest at Notre Dame of Maryland University by the score of 88-65 on Wednesday night at Gator Court.

How It Happened
 
* The Gators opened the game on a 21-2 run and led by as many as 22 points in the first half.  A score by Anthony Wright gave the home team a 25-3 lead at the 8:16 mark.
 
* Abington, over a six-minute span, cut the deficit down to single digits thanks to a 21-8 surge.  Freshman Aiden Brown made it a nine-point game after scoring a basket off an offensive board.  Brown's score made the score 33-24 with less than three minutes to play until halftime.
 
* The Gators pushed their lead back to double-figures before the end of the half and went into the locker rooms at halftime with a 39-27 lead.
 
* In the second half, the Gators maintained their double-digit lead and increased it to 20 points after opening the half on a 15-7 run.  Wright scored a layup to make the score 54-34. 
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Senior Kobe Devine led all scorers with a game-high 17 points.  Devine shot 5-of-9 from the field, including 3-of-6 from deep range.  He was a perfect 4-of-4 from the line and totaled five rebounds and three steals.
 
* Freshman Jahad Marable recorded his third double-double of the season after totaling 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
 
* Freshman Anthony Pineda also scored in double-figures as he finished the night with 14 points off the bench. 
 
* For the Gators, Chandler Johnson scored a team-high 16 points, while Ahmad Harrison and Jahbreco Dacosta each totaled 11 points. 
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked just the second meeting between Abington and Notre Dame.  The Gators won the first-ever meeting earlier in the season at Abington.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 8 as the Nittany Lions host Penn State Brandywine in United East action.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.  Prior to the game the Nittany Lions will recognize their senior class in part of Senior Day festivities.
