Abington Falls to Brandywine, 71-61

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team dropped a United East Conference (UEC) contest to Penn State Brandywine, 71-61, on Saturday afternoon at the Abington Athletic Building.  Prior to the game, the Nittany Lions honored seniors Kobe Devine and Kolby Miller in part of Senior Day festivities.

How It Happened
 
* Brandywine led 9-6 early in the first half and used 7-0 run to increase its lead to double-digits after a three-pointer by Joey Brusha made the score 16-6 at the 12:33 mark. 
 
* Later in the half, Abington came within two possessions of the Brandywine lead after Devine coverted a pair of free throws to change the score to 21-15 with 7:40 to play until halftime.  However, a quick 7-0 run by Brandywine capped by a Jaden Fogg three-pointer gave the visiting squad their biggest lead of the half at 28-15. 
 
* Abington made it a single digit game in the final seconds of the half when freshman Ryan Black split a pair of free throws.  Brandywine answered with a basket at the buzzer by Amari Little to push the lead back to double-digits (35-25) heading into the locker rooms at halftime.
 
* In the second half Brandywine led by as many as 14 points on three separate occasions with the latter coming at the 10:57 mark.  Little hit a jumper to make the score 49-35. 
 
* Brandywine held on to its double-digit lead until the six-minute mark when a layup by Black made the score 55-46. 
 
* Abington came as close as seven points after Black split a pair of free throws with 1:55 to play.  Brandywine led 62-55 but went on to use a 4-0 run to push its lead to 11 at 66-55.  Brandywine converted 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the final minute to hold off Abington.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Miller scored a season-high 16 points (5-9 FG) to go along with seven rebounds and two steals.
 
* Freshman Jahad Marable finished the day with 13 points and seven rebounds.  Marable also had a team-high three steals and blocked a pair of shots. 
 
* Freshman Gabe Swift finished with 13 points off the bench.
 
* For Brandywine, Little led all scorers with 24 points, while Fogg added 17 points and eight rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the fifth meeting between Abington and Brandywine since the start of the 2011-12 season.  Abington is now 2-3 all-time versus Brandywine after splitting the season series.  Abington defeated Brandywine, 65-64, back in January in Media, Pa.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 11 as the Nittany Lions host Gallaudet University in the team's home finale.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
