How It Happened

* Abington trailed by as many as seven points on three occasions in the opening quarter with the latter coming in the final minute.  Yasminah White hit a jumper for the Eagles to make the score 20-13 with :26 seconds remaining in the quarter.  However, sophomore Amina Reid drilled a three-pointer as time expired to bring the Nittany Lions within four points at 20-16.

* Reid opened the second quarter with another three-pointer and junior Naila Newman split a pair of free throws to tie the game at 20-20.  The Nittany Lions then grabbed their first lead (22-21) of the game when Reid scored a layup basket at the 6:54 mark.

* With the score tied 23-23, the Nittany Lions secured the final lead change of the game after sophomore Amirah Hackney knocked a three-pointer. Hackney's three jump-started an 11-2 run as Abington increased its lead to nine points.  Junior Tori Tolson scored a layup to cap the run which gave the Nittany Lions a 34-25 advantage with 2:29 to play until the half.  Abington finished with a 37-29 advantage by quarters end.

* In the third quarter, Abington increased its lead to as many as 12 points when Newman scored a layup basket to make the score 43-31 at the 7:40 mark.  The Eagles responded with a quick 7-0 surge to make it a five-point game at 43-38 by the midway point of the quarter.

* The Nittany Lions countered the Eagles' 7-0 run with a 7-0 run of their own.  Sophomore Kylie Frey connected on a three-pointer to give the Nittany Lions a 12-point lead once again at 50-38.

* Saint Elizabeth opened the fourth quarter scoring six unanswered points to cut the Abington lead down to five (52-47).  That would be as close as the Eagles would get though despite coming within five points of the lead two more times in the quarter, including at 61-56 with 3:37 to play.

* Abington closed out the final three minutes of the game on a 10-0 run bookended by a pair of three-pointers by Reid.  The Nittany Lions' defense held the Eagles to 0-4 shooting from the field and forced two turnovers during that span.
