Abington Falls to Mighty Macs in Return North

Immaculata, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team dropped a non-conference contest at Immaculata University, 12-3, in the team's first game back from Florida on Tuesday afternoon at the IU Baseball Field.

How It Happened
 
* The Mighty Macs jumped out to a 4-0 lead after scoring four runs in the opening frame.  Immaculata then added another run in the second to increase the lead to 5-0.
 
* The Nittany Lions got on the board in the fourth when sophomore Donato Incollingo drove in junior Cory DiMario who led the inning off with a base hit.  Later in the game, Incollingo hit his fourth home run of the season with a two-run blast in the ninth inning.
 
* The Mighty Macs answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth.  Robert Woodward drove in a run with a single up the middle to make the score 6-1.
 
* In the bottom of the sixth, the Mighty Macs extended their lead to 8-1 after a two-run single by Will Kelley. The home team added four more runs in the eighth to make it a 12-1 game before Incollingo connected on a two-run homer in the ninth to cap the scoring in the game.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Incollingo finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI.  His ninth inning home run marked his fourth long ball of the season and the 11th of his career. 
 
* DiMario, along with seniors Gaetan Grandelli and Josh McGee had hits in the game for the Nittany Lions.
 
* For Immaculata, Woodward went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.  He also had a pair of walks in the game.  Kelly also drove in two runs as he finished 1-for-4 with a run and one walk. Stephen Devanney (1-1) picked up the win as he went 8.1 innings with eight strikeouts.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the eighth meeting between Abington and Immaculata since the start of the 2011 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 2-6 versus the Mighty Macs in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, March 19 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Neumann University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
