Abington Falls to DeSales, 5-2

Center Valley, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team dropped a non-conference contest at DeSales University by the score of 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the DeSales Tennis Courts.

How It Happened
 
* DeSales earned the team point after doubles competition after winning the second and third doubles matches. 
 
* Abington's Laurie Flemming and Isabella DePorre picked up the win at first doubles against DeSales' Nyah Tomlinson and Lilah Maus.  The Abington duo trailed 5-0 in the match and came all the way back with a 7-5 triumph.
 
* Flemming went on to win her first singles match against Tomlinson.  Flemming won the first set with ease by the score of 6-1.  In the second set, Flemming and Tomlinson went the distance and needed a tiebreak to settle the set.  With the tiebreak tied at 3-3, Flemming scored the final four points to take the tiebreak, 7-3, and the win at first singles.
 
* Jess Battulga recorded the other team point for the Nittany Lions as she defeated the Bulldogs' Tara Clark at fourth doubles.  Battulga won the match in straight sets by the score of 6-2 and 6-1.
 
* At fifth singles, Morgan Schaefer took DeSales' Caroline Prince to a tiebreak point in the first set.  With the set tied 6-6, Prince ultimately went on to win the tiebreak, 7-4, and then took the match with a second set victory.
 
* Additionally, DeSales picked up victories at second, third and sixth singles.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and DeSales.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, March 22 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Lancaster Bible College in the first United East contest of the season.  Match time is set for 3 p.m.
