Abington Drops Conference Opener at LBC

Landisville, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team dropped its United East Conference (UEC) opener at Lancaster Bible College by the score of 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Hempfield Rec Center.

How It Happened
 
* Lancaster Bible picked up the team point after winning first and second doubles.  Abington won third doubles by forfeit.
 
* Senior Isabella DePorre nearly rallied to force a third set in her first-ever first flight singles match.  The Chargers' Sierra Harmann won the first set, 6-0, however DePorre recovered in the second set and let 5-4.  Hartmann though went on to win the next three points to take the set, 7-5.
 
* The Chargers also won at second, third, fourth and fifth singles to take the match, 6-1.
 
* Abington's lone singles point came at sixth singles by forfeit.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 15th meeting between Abington and Lancaster Bible since the start of the 2011-12 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 10-5 versus the Chargers in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, March 26 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Arcadia University in a non-conference contest.  Match time is set for 3 p.m.
