Abington Shutout by Nationally Ranked Rowan

Jenkintown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team dropped a non-conference contest to nationally ranked #11 Rowan University by the score of 12-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Alverthorpe Park.

How It Happened
 
* Rowan's Jason Morgan connected on a lead off home run to start the game and then in the second, after the Profs already scored two runs in the inning, hit his second home run of the game.  This time a two-run shot that gave Rowan a 5-0 lead.
 
* The early run support was enough for starting pitcher, Zach Coluccio, who threw six scoreless innings to earn his second victory of the season. 
 
* Rowan capped the scoring in the top half of the eighth when Nick Struble hit a two-run homer to make the score 12-0.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Senior Shane Fillman went 2-for-4 for the Nittany Lions with a pair of base hits.
 
* Cory DiMario, Gaetan Grandelli, Garrett Garofalo and Paul Figueroa all had hits for Abington.
 
* For Rowan, Marco Mannino finished 2-for-4 with five RBI, while Morgan went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI.  Struble finished 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 12th meeting between Abington and Rowan since the start of the 2013 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 3-9 versus the Profs in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, March 29 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Keystone College in a United East Conference doubleheader.  Game one is set for 12 p.m.
