Abington Opens Florida Trip with Win Over Berea

Auburndale, Fla. – The Penn State Abington baseball team began its annual Florida trip on a high note as the Nittany Lions came away with an 11-4 triumph over Berea College in a non-conference contest at the RussMatt Baseball Invitational on Friday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Park.

* Senior Garrett Garofalo went 4-for-3 at the plate for the Nittany Lions as he fell a home run shy of the cycle.  Garofalo also scored twice in the game.
 
* Junior Cory DiMario went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.  DiMario also drove in a run.
 
* Senior Jake Fallers also had multiple hits in the game as he went 2-for-4 5 with a run and an RBI.
 
* Sophomore Donato Incollingo finished 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI and three walks.
 
* Senior Owen Lynch (1-0) picked up the win as he went six innings while holding Berea to just five hits.  Lynch finished the game with five strikeouts.
 
* For Berea, Fredison Rivera went 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Today marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Berea.

Abington returns to action on Saturday night as the Nittany Lions face Anna Maria College in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Lake Myrtle Park Field 5.
