How It Happened

* Abington trailed 7-4 heading into the seventh inning and by the end of the frame the game was tied up at seven all.  Senior Jake Fallers led the inning off with a double before fellow senior Josh McGee drew a walk.  After back-to-back strikeouts, freshman Paul Figueroa connected on his first career home run to tie the game at 7-7.

* In the eighth, senior Gaetan Grandelli and sophomore Donato Incollingo each drew walks to give the Nittany Lions a pair of runners on base with one out in the inning.  Fallers stepped up and launched a pitch over the fence for a three-run homer to give Abington a 10-7 lead; the team's first since leading 3-0 after the top half of the first.

* The lead turned out to be short-lived as Anna Maria answered with three runs in the bottom of the eighth.  Jeremy Rosenberg hit a two-run homer with two outs in the inning.  Two batters later, Josh Batchelder drove in the game-tying run with a triple.

* In the ninth, junior Cory DiMario drew a lead-off walk, however the next three Abington batters were retired in order.  The AMCats led the bottom of the inning off with a base hit by Avery Acuna.  Acuna advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and then moved on to third after an Abington balk.  The Nittany Lions intentionally walked Tommy Sasso to potentially set up a double-play opportunity with one out in the inning.  Abington got the ground ball they wanted when Justin Chiulli hit a sharp grounder to short.  The Nittany Lions retired Sasso at second, but Chiulli beat the throw to first as Avery crossed the plate for the walk-off winning run.

* Abington opened the game with a three-run first inning.  Grandelli connected on a two-run double and later scored on a fielding error.

* The AMCats responded with two runs in the bottom of the first and added four runs in the second to lead 6-3.
