Abington Wraps Up Regular Season at Cairn

Langhorne, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team concluded the regular season against Cairn University on Thursday afternoon at the McCurdy Tennis Facility.  The Highlanders defeated the Nittany Lions by the score of 6-1.  Abington will now shift gears to the postseason which is set to begin on Tuesday, April 22 with the Play-In Round.  The Nittany Lions have secured the fifth seed in the United East and will host one of the Play-In matches.

How It Happened
 
* Sophomore Laurie Flemming earned the lone point for the Nittany Lions after defeating Reagan Griffith at first singles by the scores of 6-2 and 6-4.  Flemming is now 11-2 overall and 6-1 in conference matches at first flight.  She has won her last four matches, including nine of her last 10.
 
* Flemming, along with senior Isabella DePorre, wrapped up conference play with a 6-1 record at first singles with their fourth straight victory.  The Abington duo defeated Cairn's Griffith and Delaney Bouton by the score of 6-3 after trailing the match 3-0. DePorre and Flemming finished the regular season with an 11-2 record at first doubles.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 11th meeting between Abington and Cairn since the start of the 2011-12 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 5-6 versus the Highlanders in the all-time series.
 
Postseason Begins
Abington will be hosting its first postseason match since the 2021 NEAC Tournament when the Nittany Lions hosted Penn State Berks in a First-Round match. As previously mentioned, the Nittany Lions secured the fifth seed in next week's Play-In match after finishing conference play 5-3.  More information, including pairings and match times, will be available upon the conclusion of the regular season conference schedule this weekend.
