Abington Shutout by Brandywine

Aston, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team dropped a United East Conference (UEC) contest on the road against Penn State Brandywine by the score of 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Maple Zone.

How It Happened
 
* Brandywine scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning and never looked back.  Miguel Rodriguez highlighted the inning with a two-run double.
 
* Brandywine's Gianni Serenelli held Abington to just six hits but did walk three batters in the game.  Serenelli went the distance to record his first win of the season as he struck out five.
 
* Brandywine tacked on three runs in the bottom of the seventh with three different players driving in a run.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Senior Gaetan Grandelli was the lone player for the Nittany Lions that had multiple hits in the game as he finished 2-for-4. 
 
* Junior Paul Figueroa went 1-for-3 with a double.
 
* Senior Jake Fallers along with junior Cory DiMario and sophomore Donato Incollingo all had hits in the game.
 
* Freshman Jacob Kisselbach pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the Nittany Lions.
 
* For Brandywine, Nate Turner went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Owen Lawton (1-5) and Rodriguez (2-4) each drove in two runs.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the third meeting between Abington and Brandywine since the start of the 2017 season and the first in a week's span.  Abington, who defeated Brandywine, last week is now 2-1 in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, April 12 as the Nittany Lions play host to Penn State Harrisburg in a United East doubleheader.  Game one is set for 12 p.m. at Alverthorpe Park.
