How It Happened (Game 1)

* Abington scored five runs in the bottom of the first and that would be more than enough as senior Gretchen Yanss silenced the Valley Forge bats.  Freshman Riley Logan and sophomore Isabella Antosiewicz each had two-run hits in the inning.

* Yanss struck out the first five batters of the game on her way to a season-high 12-strikeout performance.  Her 12 K's tied her career-high along with her single game record.  Yanss carried a no-hitter into the top half of the fifth but with two outs in the inning, Valley Forge's Sierra Brown broke up the no-no with a base hit to leftfield.  Yanss then struck out Abigail Wood for her 12th putout and first shutout of the season.

* Abington had another five-run inning in the bottom of the fourth.  The Nittany Lions took advantage of three errors by the Patriots in the inning. Freshmen Lainey Scotese and Morgan Craig along with junior Emily Foxhill and senior Hailey Gamble all drove in runs.

Inside the Box Score (Game 1)

How It Happened (Game 2)

* The Abington bats stayed hot entering game two as evident with a 10-run first inning.  Senior Hailey Gamble jumpstarted the inning with a triple to right field and from there the Nittany Lions registered eight more hits and took advantage of two errors in the inning.  Gamble went 2-for-2 in the inning, as did Yanss who recorded a run scoring single to drive in Gamble.  Later in the inning, Yanss came to the plate with the bases loaded and hit an inside the park home run to the right field corner to cap the scoring in the inning.

* Already ahead 10-0, the Nittany Lions added four runs in each of the next two frames to lead 18-0.  Foxhill and Logan each drove in runs in the second, while sophomore Paula Casale highlighted the third with a two-out two-run single to right field.
