How It Happened

* Abington earned the team point in doubles after picking up victories and first and second flights.  At first doubles, sophomores Wenxu Gu and Tripp Mangifesta trailed 1-0 against Jacob Nelson and Nick Rohr but went on to score six of the next eighth points to take the match, 6-3.

* At second doubles, sophomore Anton Labas and Krishna Gurram rallied to defeat Andrew Hand and Alex Lyman, 7-6.  The Abington duo trailed 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6 but tied the score each time to set up a tiebreak.  Labas and Gurram led 5-2 and then 5-4 in the tiebreak before Gurram came up with a big serve followed with a winner to make the score 6-4.  St. Mary's came within one point at 6-5, but a Seahawks' error gave Abington the 7-5 tiebreak to win the match, 7-6.

* In singles action, Gu improved to 7-0 at first flight as he defeated Nick Rohr in straight sets by the scores of 6-4, 6-3.
