How It Happened

* St. Mary's won all three doubles competitions to earn the team point in doubles.  At first doubles, senior Isabella DePorre and sophomore Laurie Flemming battled Cleo Solomon and Amber Manspeaker in a hard-fought match.  Abington opened with a 4-2 lead, but St. Mary's rallied down the stretch to take the match, 6-4.

* In singles play, Flemming nearly went the distance against Solomon at first flight.  Solomon won the first set before a back-and-forth second set.  Flemming fell behind 5-4, but tied the match at 5-5.  Solomon regained the lead at 6-5 before Flemming once again tied the match at 6-6 to force a tiebreak.  Flemming opened the tiebreak with a 4-1 lead but Solomon followed with six straight points for the win.

* At third singles, junior Soniyah Youngblood won seven games against Sarah Levit keeping each set close despite Levit coming away with the match victory.
