Abington Falls to Ramapo in Season Opener

Mahwah, N.J. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team dropped its season opener on the road against Ramapo College by the score of 2-0 in a non-conference contest on Friday afternoon.

How It Happened
 
* Ramapo broke a scoreless tie with thirty-two seconds remaining in the opening half.  Alim Lita corralled a rebounded ball off a shot by Omar Flores-Sosa that was stopped by freshman goalkeeper Keegan Courduff.  Lita was able to connect on his shot for the score.
 
* In the early moments of the second half the Roadrunners doubled their lead at 2-0 when Luigi Portillo found the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
 
* Abington totaled 12 shots in the game with eight on-target.  The Nittany Lions fired off five on-goal shots in the second half, including two by sophomore Frankie Rafferty.  Rafferty finished the game with a team-high four shots with three on-goal.
 
* Courduff finished the game with six saves in his collegiate debut as he recorded three saves in each half.
 
* Ramapo's Zachary Natt earned the shutout in net with eight saves.

Today marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Ramapo.

Abington returns to action on Saturday as the Nittany Lions take on Manhattanville University in Purchase, N.Y.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
