Abington and Shenandoah Conclude in 1-1 Tie

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team came away with its third straight draw as the Nittany Lions finished in a 1-1 tie with visiting Shenandoah University in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.

How It Happened
 
* Abington broke a scoreless tie in the 55th minute when sophomore Frank Monaco scored his first collegiate goal.  Fellow sophomore Temur Temirov assisted on the play to register his first career assist and point.  The Nittany Lions' goal came off a corner kick attempt as Abington finished the game with nine total corners.
 
* Minutes later Shenandoah's Luke Shearer got off a shot on-goal in attempt to tie the game, however freshman goalkeeper, Keegan Courduff, made the stop for his only save of the game.  The Hornets only managed four shots throughout the game.
 
* In the 78th minute Shenandoah scored the equalizing goal off the foot of Jarbin Rodriguez.  It marked the final shot of the game for either team. 
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Abington finished the game with four shots with three being on-target.  Senior Timothy Kane and sophomore Nick Golter each recorded a shot on-goal.
 
* Shenandoah's Cameron Vester made two saves in net for the Hornets.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the second meeting between Abington and Shenandoah.  The two teams finished in a tie a year ago in Winchester, Va. as neither team found the back of the net in a scoreless draw.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 17 as the Nittany Lions travel to face the University of Scranton in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
