How It Happened

* It was only a matter of time before the Nittany Lions found the back of the net.  Abington fired off 10 shots in the second half, including 16 for the game.  Their patience paid off because in the 83rd minute Strange connected on a shot from about 20-yards out over a diving attempt by the Griffins keeper, Madisson Ronn.

* The scoring play was setup by a corner kick opportunity attempted by sophomore Kaitlyn Frank.  Frank's kick sailed into the box as Ronn punched the ball out of the scoring area.  However, the ball found its way out towards Strange who maneuvered past her defender to get off the shot.

* The Abington defense held the Griffins to just five total shots as junior Kayla Kulp made three saves in net to register her second shutout in an Abington uniform.

Inside the Box Score

* The score by Strange marked the defender's second career goal and first since her rookie season in 2022.

* Frank led the Nittany Lions with five total shots, while sophomore Meghan McMeel fired off four shots, including two on-goal.  Junior Amanda Armstrong finished the game with three shots with one on-target.

* For the Griffins, Kira Bradley record three of the team's five shots with two on-goal.
