How It Happened

* The Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead before Abington answered with six points of its own to tie the game at 6-6 when sophomore Tyler Meinel hit a jumper at the 17:14 mark.

* The score remained close early in the opening half with Mary Washington holding a lead no larger than two possessions.  It wasn't until midway through the half that the Eagles pushed its lead to seven points after Jadon Burgess scored a layup basket to make the score 20-13. Mary Washington pushed its lead to double-digits for the first time at the 6:27 mark when Kye Robinson converted a pair of free throws to increase the lead to 26-15.  The Eagles went on to lead 44-26 at the half.

* In the second half, Abington opened with an 11-2 run to cut the deficit down to single digits.  Junior Mike Byfield connected on a pair of free throws to make it a 46-37 game at the 16:45 mark.  However, a quick three-pointer and a fastbreak score by the Eagles on their next two possessions pushed the lead to 51-37.

* Abington cut the lead to single digits once more later in the half as a three-pointer by Byfield made the score 58-49 with 12:11 to play.  The Eagles once again answered and used 14-0 run over the next four-plus minutes to lead 72-49 for their biggest lead of the game.  Mary Washington maintained its double-digit lead the remainder of the game.
