How It Happened

* After dropping the first two sets by the slimmest of margins, Abington bounced back with a 25-23 victory in set three to extend the match. The Nittany Lions trailed 22-17 late in the set after Berks' Shea Leber recorded a kill. However, Abington ripped off seven straight points to setup set-point after a service ace by junior Fabiola Media made the score 24-22. Leber ended the Abington run with another kill, but on the next rally, junior Ellie Van Otten closed things out with a kil of her own to send the match into a fourth set.

* The momentum carried over into the fourth set as Abington opened with an 8-1 run and went on to lead by as many as nine points at 13-4. As the set progressed, Berks began chipping away at the Abington lead and used a 6-0 run to tie the set at 17-17. Van Otten ended the rally with a kill to give Abington a 18-17 lead, but Berks answered six of the next seven points to take a 23-19 advantage. Back-to-back attack errors by Berks brought Abington to within two points at 23-21 but after both teams exchanged kills, the home Lions received a kill from Leber to close out the match at 25-22.
