Abington Wins Eighth Straight; Secures Home Quarterfinal Game

La Plume, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team officially clinched a home quarterfinal game in the upcoming United East Conference (UEC) tournament after defeating Keystone College, 86-40, on Tuesday night at Ace Spalding Arena.  The win marked the team's eighth straight which is the longest winning streak since the 2014-15 team won nine consecutive games.

How It Happened
 
* Abington opened the game on a 15-5 run over the first four minutes of play and held a double-digit lead within the first three minutes at 13-3.  The Nittany Lions pushed their lead to as many as 19 points by the final minute of the quarter when sophomore Hailey Revak knocked down a three-pointer to make the score 29-10.  Abington finished the first 10 minutes with a 29-11 advantage.
 
* The Abington lead hit 30-plus by the end of the second quarter.  Senior Naila Newman scored a layup basket to give the Nittany Lions a 52-17 lead heading into halftime.  Abington outscored Keystone, 23-6, in the quarter.
 
* Abington's biggest lead came in the final quarter after sophomore Tramiya Batts hit a jumper to make the score 82-33 with 5:31 remaining.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Sophomore Tarianda Washington recorded her third double-double of the season and her second in the last three games after totaling 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.  Washington also had three steals on defense.
 
* Junior Sereniti Minor also registered a double-double as she scored a season-high 14 points off the bench to go along with a career-high 10 rebounds. It marked her first career double-double.
 
* Junior Amirah Hackney scored a game-high 16 points to go along with five boards and three steals.
 
* Senior Nia Newman also scored in double-figures as she came away with 12 points and eight rebounds.
 
* Junior Amina Reid filled the box score with nine points, five rebounds and eight assists.
 
* Naila Newman finished with nine points, four rebounds and eight assists.  With her eight helpers, she surpassed 200 assists in her Abington career.  Her assist on Reid's jumper at the 6:26 mark of the first quarter marked her 200th.  Newman now has 207 assists in an Abington uniform which ranks sixth most all-time.
 
* Revak totaled nine points after connecting on 3-of-6 from deep range.
 
* For Keystone, Jayda Price led the team with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Angelise Sanchez totaled 12 points.

Tonight marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Keystone.
 
Postseason Picture
With one game to go in the regular season, Abington currently sits tied with Penn College in the United East standings at 10-2.  A victory at Wilson College in the regular season finale combined with a Penn College loss will secure the second seed for the Nittany Lions.  However, if both Abington and Penn College win or lose, the Wildcats will emerge as the second seed due to the regular season victory over the Nittany Lions.

Abington wraps up the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 14 as the Nittany Lions head to Wilson. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
