How It Happened

* Abington trailed 29-28 with just over two minutes remaining in the second quarter.  A quick 6-0 run changed the momentum of the game as the Nittany Lions went into the locker rooms at halftime holding a 34-29 advantage.  Senior Nia Newman, junior Amirah Hackney and sophomore Tarianda Washington all scored layup baskets to give Abington the five-point lead.

* Abington opened the third quarter with two quick baskets to increase its lead to 38-29 extending its run to 10-0.  The Wildcats did cut the deficit down to six points midway through the quarter at 42-36, however the Nittany Lions went on to lead by double-digits by quarters end.  Washington scored a layup basket as time expired to make the score 54-42 heading into the final quarter.

* In the final frame, the Nittany Lions never relinquished the lead despite the efforts of Penn College who came within three-points multiple times down the stretch.  Each time Abington answered to keep the Wildcats at bay not allowing the home team to get any closer.  Washington came up with a clutch defensive stop with :27 seconds remaining and Abington clinging to a three-point lead.  The steal led to Penn College fouling Hackney who went on to split a pair of free throws to make the score 66-62.
