How It Happened

* Abington clinched the team point in doubles after winning all three competitions.  At first doubles, the team of senior Mark Tymchenko and freshman Daniel Trott defeated Lucas Montello and Troy O'Malley by the score of 6-4.  After dropping the first point, Trott and Tymchenko rolled off three straight points to go ahead 3-1 in what turned out to be a back-and-forth match before the two-point win.

* In second doubles, sophomore Vlad Borodaykevych and freshman Sanat Juneja rallied from 4-1 down to take the match, 7-6.  The duo tied the match at 4-4 before Alvernia's Andrew Kao and Jordan Bosco regained the lead at 5-4.  Borodaykevych and Juneja tied the match again at 6-6 to force a tiebreak.  The Nittany Lions went up 6-0, however Kao and Bosco rallied for five straight points to make the tie-break, 6-5.  Borodaykevych and Juneja won the ensuing point to hold on for the 7-5 tie-break victory.

* Sanat won his first collegiate match with a straight sets victory at fourth singles.  He defeated Bosco by the scores of 6-3, 6-0.

* At third singles, Tymchenko went the distance with O'Malley.  Tymchenko took the first set, 7-5, but ended up dropping the second set, 6-4, to force a 10-points tie-break.  Tymchenko turned a 2-1 deficit into a 7-2 lead after scoring six straight points before winning the tie-break, 10-3.

* Borodaykevych also went the distance in his second singles competition against Kao but fell short in the 10-point tie-break.  Borodaykevych bounced back after a first set defeat with a 6-4 triumph in the second set to tie the match.  Kao came away with a 10-7 win in the 10-point tie-break to earn the point for Alvernia.

* Abington won third doubles and received team points in fifth and sixth singles due to forfeit.
