Abington Drops Conference Match at Harrisburg

Middletown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team dropped a United East Conference (UEC) contest at Penn State Harrisburg by the score of 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Hoverter Tennis Complex.

How It Happened
 
* Harrisburg opened the match with a sweep at doubles competitions to earn the team point in doubles. 
 
* In singles play, freshman Juliana De Souza won six games against Karly Anderson at third flight.  De Souza dropped the first set and led 3-2 in the second set before falling behind 5-3.  She staved off three match points to tie the set at 5-5.  However, Anderson came through with the next two points to take the set, 7-5, for the match win.
 
* Junior Sevara Tursunboeva won five games versus Ava Shepps at first singles (2-6, 3-6).
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the ninth meeting between Abington and Harrisburg since the start of the 2011-12 season.  Abington is now 2-7 versus Harrisburg in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Tuesday, March 31 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Penn College in a United East contest.  Match time is set for 1:30 p.m.
