Abington Edged by Wildcats, 4-3

South Williamsport, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis team dropped a United East Conference (UEC) contest at Penn College by the score of 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon at the Central PA Tennis Center.

How It Happened
 
* Penn College took the team point in doubles play after winning first and second doubles competitions.  The Wildcats' Kyle Shuler and Josh Myers rallied from 4-1 down to defeat senior Mark Tymchenko and freshman Daniel Trott by the score of 7-5 to take the match and clinch the team point for Penn College.  The Wildcats took number two doubles by the score of 6-1.
 
* The duo of sophomore Charlie Batman and freshman Kaan Ofluoglu got the win at third doubles against Avery Hawk and Lumortor Kpangbai by the score of 7-6.  Abington was down, 4-3, before winning four straight points to take the match, including the tie-break point, 7-4.
 
* In singles play, Trott won in straight sets against Shuler at first flight by the scores of 6-3, 6-4. 
 
* Ofluoglu won his fifth singles match against Hawk with identical 6-4 scores.
 
* Batman came up with a straight sets victory at sixth singles against Christian Ambromovage.  He won the first set, 6-3, and then shutout Ambromovage in the second set, 6-0.
 
* Penn College won singles match at second, third and fourth flights.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 13th meeting between Abington and Penn College since the start of the 2014-15 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 10-3 versus the Wildcats in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, April 11 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Penn State Brandywine in a United East contest.  Match time is set for 1 p.m.
