How It Happened

* The Abington offense wasted zero time getting on the Rosemont pitching staff.  The Nittany Lions scored four runs right off the bat in the opening inning.  Senior Benjamin Gagnon highlighted the inning with a two-run double.

* In the second, Abington added another two runs after freshman John Busco and junior Akira Nakamura recorded back-to-back run scoring doubles to make the score 6-1.

* The Nittany Lions extended their lead to 9-1 in the third inning after scoring three runs.  Junior Mike Brocco drove in a pair with a base hit and then later in the inning, Busco drove in junior Nathan Schurga with a sacrifice fly to center.

* After a scoreless fourth inning for the Nittany Lions, the Abington offense put the game out of reach with a seven-run inning.  Abington batted around in the inning as Schurga, Brocco and sophomore John Marcucci each reached base twice in the frame.  Schurga led the inning off getting plunked by a pitch and then in his second at-bat he delivered a run scoring double. Brocco singled in his first at-bat and scored on a three-run double by Busco.  Brocco got hit by a pitch in his second at-bat.  Marcucci also got hit marking the third time in the game he was plunked.  He capped the scoring in the inning with an RBI single to give Abington a 16-3 advantage.

* Abington added five more runs in the sixth and three in the seventh.  Sophomore Aqual Chapman had a two-run homer in the seventh for his first career home run.
