Abington Falls to Rutgers-Newark in Non-Conference Matchup

Newark, N.J. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest on the road against Rutgers University – Newark by the score of 5-0 on Wednesday night at Frederick Douglass Field.

How It Happened
 
* The Newark offense scored three first half goals within the first 20 minutes of the opening half to take a commanding 3-0 lead early in the game.  Vielka Fernandez scored the first goal in the seventh minute and was followed by a score from Samantha Vieira in the 16th minute.  The Scarlett Raiders added another goal in the 20th minute off the foot of Skylar Prince.
 
* The score remained 3-0 through the rest of the first half and into the second.  The Scarlett Raiders tacked on a goal in the 59th minute by Eliza Haghighi and capped the scoring with a score by Ashley Solarte in the 73rd minute.

* Junior Kaitlyn Frank and freshman Jada Rawls-Irizarry reach recorded a shot for the Nittany Lions.
 
* Freshman goalkeeper Audrey Ormsby made her collegiate debut as she made three saves in the first half.
 
* Junior Sam Ridler entered in net for the second half and made five stops.

Tonight marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Newark.
