Abington and Albright Finish in 1-1 Draw

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team finished in a 1-1 draw with visiting Albright College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Field. Junior Meghan McGinly scored the game-tying goal early in the second half for the Nittany Lions.

How It Happened
 
* Albright got on the board first scoring its lone goal midway through the first half.  A through pass by Samantha Rosenberg to Jaylin Sheffield led to the score.  Sheffield was able to get off a clear shot for her first goal of the season.
 
* Albright held on to its one goal lead through the rest of the half and into halftime.  However, the Nittany Lions, who were held to just one shot in the first half, fired off three shots within the first five minutes of the second half, including the score by McGinly.  Senior Sara Hogan fired in a throw-in pass from the right side into the box that set up McGinly for her second goal of the season. 
 
* Junior Sam Ridler made two key stops in the 66th and 69th minutes to keep the game tied at 1-1.  Ridler finished the game with four saves.
 
* Abington had an opportunity to break the tie in the 75th minute when freshman Grace Smith got a shot off on-goal but Albright's Maura Solomon came through with the stop.
 
* Both teams went the final 15 minutes without a shot on-target as the game concluded deadlock at 1-1.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Hogan recorded her second assist in as many games setting a new career-high for assists in a season.
 
* McGinly scored for the second straight game and now has 18 career goals.

* Abington held a slight edge on corner kicks, 5-4.  The Nittany Lions had four in the first half.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the third meeting between Abington and Albright since the start of the 2017 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-1-2 versus the Lions in the all-time series.

Abington returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 19 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Ramapo College in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
