Abington, Pa. – After 90-minutes of action, the Penn State Abington men's soccer team finished in a scoreless stalemate with visiting Washington College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Field.

How It Happened

* Freshman goalkeeper Hector Ortiz made two early saves in the first half to keep the Shoremen off the board. Washington College totaled five shots in the first 45 with the other three off-target.

* Senior Nick Lachawiec had both of Abington's first half shots, including a shot on-goal in the 32^nd minute. However, the Shoremen's Hannes Budde made the stop to keep the game scoreless.

* In the second half, sophomore Aramis Shire fired a shot off a free kick in the 51^st minute that was stopped by Budde. It was one of three shots by Shire in the half.

* Ortiz made two more key saves to preserve the shutout. The latter coming in the 82^nd minute off a shot by Tucker Sprano.

* Abington had one last opportunity in the final minute when senior Amerr Yagoub fired a shot at the net on a free kick from about 25-yards out. Budde made the save lunging to the left to spoil a potential game-winning score.

* Ortiz finished the game with four saves and in the process recorded his first career shutout.

* Shire (3) and Lachawiec (2) combined for five of Abington's seven shots in the game.

All-Time Series
Today marked just the second meeting between Abington and Washington College since 2023. The two teams finished in a 1-1 tie in the first-ever meeting.
