Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Abington and Stockton End in 1-1 Tie

Galloway, N.J. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team finished in a 1-1 tie against Stockton University in a non-conference contest on Wednesday night at G. Larry James Stadium.  Freshman Shane Lachawiec scored the Nittany Lions' lone goal in the 47th minute which at the time gave Abington a 1-0 lead.

How It Happened
 
* Both teams had just one shot on-goal early in the first half.  Freshman goalkeeper Hector Ortiz made a stop in the third minute off a shot by Stockton's Landon Hoenisch. Abington's lone shot in the half was setup by junior Frankie Rafferty in the 15th minute.
 
* Stockton recorded three shots in the final 10 minutes of the opening half, but each shot was off-target as the game entered the half still tied 0-0.
 
* The score didn't remain tied much longer with the start of the second half.  A long throw-in towards the inside of the box by sophomore Aramis Shire led to the game's first goal in the 47th minute.  Shane Lachawiec knocked in the long throw-in pass for his first collegiate goal.
 
* Stockton tied the game in the 62nd minute when Christian Pereira scored an unassisted goal.
 
* Ortiz kept the score tied at 1-1 with his fourth and final save of the game in the 82nd minute.  Pereira, who finished with a game-high four shots, was denied by Ortiz.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Abington finished the game with four shots; all on-goal.  Rafferty recorded two shots, while sophomore Da'Vid Robinson and Lachawiec each had one.
 
* Stockton's Cole Butler made three saves in net.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the fourth meeting between Abington and Stockton since the start of the 2013 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-3-1 versus the Osprey in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 26 as the Nittany Lionst host St. Mary's College (Md.) in the first United East Conference contest of the season.  Game time is set for 1 p.m. at Memorial Field.
