Bryn Mawr, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team took a pair of non-conference matches in a tri-match hosted by Bryn Mawr College on Saturday at the Class of 1958 Gymnasium. The Nittany Lions defeated the host Owls, 3-1, before shutting out conference rival Penn State Brandywine, 3-0.

Freshman Kamilla Voinalovich averaged 3.8 kills per set, including a match-high 17 kills in the win over Brandywine Bryn Mawr. Senior Ryenn Mamrosch recorded over 30 assists in each match and averaged 10.28 assists between the two matches.

How It Happened (vs. Bryn Mawr)

* Abington trailed the opening set, 15-13, but went on a 9-2 run to take a 22-17 lead. Bryn Mawr answered with a mini 4-1 run to come within two points of the lead at 23-21. However, back-to-back errors by the Owls clinched the set win for the Nittany Lions, 25-21.

* After dropping the second set, the Nittany Lions bounced back with a 25-20 victory in the third set. Abington scored four of the final five points in the set to lead the match 2-1. A 7-2 run earlier in the set broke a 12-12 tie to give Abington an 18-13 lead.

* In the fourth set, the Nittany Lions used a late surge to clinch the match. Down 18-17, Abington six straight points to take a 23-18 advantage. Abington registered five kills in that span, including three from Voinalovich and two by freshman Jessie Weeks. Junior Ellie Van Otten added an ace in the run. Voinalovich capped the scoring with a kill as Abington took the set 25-21.

Inside the Box Score (vs. Bryn Mawr)

* Voinalovich recorded a season-high 17 kills as three players recorded double-digits kills in the match. Senior Zayna Jamaladdin finished with 12 kills and six digs, while Weeks totaled 10 kills with a .471 attack percentage.

* Senior Ryenn Mamrosch recorded a season-high 38 assists while also totaling 13 digs on the defensive end to tie for the team lead.

* Junior Fabiola Medina also had 13 digs to go along with three service aces.

* Van Otten finished the match with eight kills and five digs. She led the team with four total blocks, including one solo block and three block assists.

* Sophomore Mari Banjoff recorded a season-high nine digs.

* For Bryn Mawr, Emma Loller led the team with 10 kills, while Charlotte Mullen totaled 28 assists and 15 digs.

All-Time Series
Today marked the 10^th meeting between Abington and Bryn Mawr since the start of the 2013 season. The Nittany Lions are now 6-4 versus the Owls in the all-time series.

How It Happened (vs. Brandywine)

* Abington made quick work of Brandywine winning the match in three sets. The Nittany Lions offense totaled 41 kills, including 16 kills in each the first and second sets. The Abington defense limited Brandywine to only 18 total kills in the match.

* Abington scored the first seven points in the first set and never trailed. Van Otten totaled three kills in the opening rally, including a pair of aces by Medina. The Nittany Lions led by as many as 14 points in the set after a kill by Mamrosch made the score 22-8 before winning the set, 25-12.

* In the second set Abington used a 7-0 run late to pull ahead of Brandywine and take a double-digit lead at 24-14. Weeks highlighted the run with three kills. After a service error by Abington, sophomore Maya Giles recorded a kill to clinch the set, 25-15.

* Abington used multiple runs to take control of the third set. The Nittany Lions opened with a 5-1 run and then with the score tied at 7-7, Abington responded with another 5-1 run to take a 12-8 lead. Abington's final run of the set that featured six unanswered points gave the Nittany Lions a 19-10 advantage. Abington went on to take the set, 25-17.

Inside the Box Score (vs. Brandywine)

* Jamaladdin led the team with 12 kills marking her third straight match with double-digit kills to start the season.

* Weeks finished with 11 kills to go along with an impressive .563 attack percentage after committing only two errors on 16 attempts.

* Voinalovich added 10 kills in the win.

* Mamrosch totaled 34 assists as she paced the offense to 41 total kills in the match. She also had six digs.

* Medina tied her season-high with 16 digs.

* For Brandywine, Emmalin Molinaro led the team with six kills, while Emma O'Reilly and Bianca Vang each had eight digs.

Today marked the seventh meeting between Abington and Brandywine since the start of the 2011 season. Abington holds a 5-2 edge in the all-time series.
