Women’s Lacrosse Drops A Close Game At Wilkes University

The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team fell to 0-3 on the season with a 17-12 loss at Wilkes University (3-0) on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Chasidy McLaurin led Abington with four points on four goals, scoring her first hat-trick of the season. Nicole Hayes added a hat-trick, while Danielle Savoni had a pair of goals. Alexis Vanderslice, Victoria Brady and Kirsten Quinn each notched a goal.

Shreya Soni took the loss in net for the Lady Lions, allowing 17 goals and making six saves.

Both teams were evenly matched with a 29-29 shot advantage, however Wilkes University won the ground ball battle 15-7. The Lady Lions were 4-of-4 on clearing attempts and took the 8-7 lead at halftime.  

Wilkes came out clamping down on defense, limiting Abington's offensive attack enabling them to score the final three goals in the last six minutes of the second half to hold on for the third win of the season.

Abington will return to action on Thursday March 22nd as it hosts the season home opener against Arcadia University for the 4 p.m. match up.
