Box Score 2 The Penn State Abington softball team lost to Wilson College in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. Wilson defeated Abington 15-1 in game one and notched the second game, 10-2.
With the losses, Abington drops to 7-17 on the season and 3-9 in the NEAC Conference.
Game 1 – Wilson 15, Abington 1
Abington managed to get a head start on the board as
Sam Kidd posted an RBI single to bring teammate,
Melissa Kulp safely at home for the lone run for the Lady Lions.
Wilson used an eight-run second inning followed by a seven-run third inning to bust the game wide open with the score now bearing 15-1 as the game winded down to just five innings.
Game 2 – Wilson 12, Abington 2
Wilson College wasted no time at the plate, utilizing a five-run second inning to jump ahead 5-0. Abington responded in the third with
Trish Watson posting an RBI triple, scoring
Mariellen Medernach at home to put Abington on the board. Kidd kept her RBI streak alive, with a ground out to shortstop to bring Watson safely home to give Abington its last run of the game.
Wilson added two more runs in the fourth before adding three more during the fifth to make it a 10-2 game, ending it in just five innings due to the mercy rule.
Watson went 3-for-3 at the plate, posting an RBI and a run of her own.
Abington will wrap up the weekend NEAC Conference game on the road tomorrow in a doubleheader against Penn State Berks. The first pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
