KEUKA, N.Y. – The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team dropped a North Eastern Athletic Conference game to Keuka College, 20-4, Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore
Nichole Hayes led the Blue and White (0-10, 0-3 NEAC) with a hat-trick, while fellow classmate,
Tori Kimberly tallied two points off a goal and an assist. Keuka (6-2, 4-0 NEAC) was led by Taylor Smith's six goals as Samantha Staino and Kaycee Maguire each contributed four goals for the Storm.
Keuka opened the first half by scoring seven unanswered goals before Kimberly put the Nittany Lions on the board at the 16:45 mark. The Storm would only respond back scoring six more unanswered goals to extend the lead to 10-1 at the intermission.
The Storm opened the second half with a goal before Hayes found the back of the net four minutes into the stanza off a feed from Kate Schlack. Keuka would go on to score twice more as Hayes tallied her second and third goal of the day to close out the contest.
For the game, Keuka outshot Abington 39-10 and outdueled on ground balls, 34-17. Both teams had five free-position opportunities and could only score once.
After missing action the past four games,
Sarah Snyder-Kamen returned to action for the Nittany Lions in the cage, coming up with nine strong saves on the day and four ground balls.
Avery Winn posted three shots with three ground balls, while Hayes came up with five draw controls.
The Nittany Lions will continue its NEAC Conference road trip tomorrow against the Express of Wells, after the game was postponed from Saturday due to inclement of weather and poor field conditions. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
