AURORA, N.Y. – Penn State Abington women's lacrosse dropped a 20-12 decision to Wells College in a NEAC conference action Monday afternoon.
Sophomore
Nichole Hayes scored a season-high five goals, while
Avery Winn tallied a hat trick on the day.

Tori Kimberly each netted a goal while
Melanie Brown tallied two points on a goal and an assist.
Sandy Cao and
Sarah Snyder-Kamen shared duties in the cage combining for 10 saves on the day.
Wells (5-4, 3-1 NEAC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Brown and Winn each found the net to tie up the game for Abington (0-11, 0-4 NEAC). The Express would then go on to score five unanswered goals in a span of eight minutes before a pair of free-position goals by Kelly and Hayes cut the deficit to three with 3:26 to play in the first half. Wells' Madeline Bass managed to score the eighth goal for the Express with just 33 seconds remaining to extend the 8-4 lead in favor of Wells College as the buzzer signaled the intermission.
Abington struggled to slow down Wells' attack as the Express opened the second half scoring two goals before Hayes found the net to end the skid at the 25:28 mark. In the next six minutes, both teams scored three times each with Abington's goals coming from Kradzinski, Hayes and Kimberly to make it a 13-8 game in favor of the Express. Wells blew the game wide open with a 5-0 run before Winn scored her second goal of the game at the 9:39 mark with Abington trailing 18-9. The Express scored once more only to see the Nittany Lions responding with back-to-back goals from Hayes and Winn before Hayes recorded her fifth and final goal of the game with just under three minutes to play as the Express held on for the 20-12 win.
Wells outdueled Abington 27-26 on shots and 22-12 on draw controls. Abington managed to improve their free-position attempts going 4-for-6 at the hash and had a slight advantage with six caused turnovers compared to the Wells' five.
The Nittany Lions will return to action on Thursday, April 17
th as they continue conference play against Lancaster Bible College. The first draw is slated for 4:30 p.m.
