Box Score ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team took (1-12 overall, 1-5 NEAC) a 7-2 lead at the half and held off the College of Saint Elizabeth (6-5 overall, 2-4 NEAC) to earn a 12-7 victory in its first NEAC contest of the season.
Nichole Hayes tied scored six goals and an assist for the Nittany Lions and
Tori Kimberly posted six points on four goals and two assists to give the Nittany Lion its first win of the season.
Four Nittany Lion players found the back of the net against the Screaming Eagles as
Katelyn Kelly and
Avery Winn each tallied a goal each in the win.
Kate Schalck added a game-high five caused turnovers and a ground ball, while six Nittany Lions collected 14 draw controls combined.
Kimberly started the scoring with a goal off a free position goal to put Abington ahead 1-0 at the 23:04 mark. The Screaming Eagles battled back to tie up the game two minutes later.
The Nittany Lions put the next five goals on the board to regain the lead at 6-1, with Kimberly adding three more goals to her tally. CSE got on the board again with a free position goal with 48 seconds left before Hayes would tack on her second goal of the half on an assist from Kimberly to make the score 7-2 in favor of Abington at the half.
The second half opened up with Kelly and Hayes putting up the first two goals to extend the lead to 9-2 before CSE responded with back-to-back goals to draw within 9-4 with 18:34 to go in the game. Despite a free position goal from Hayes, CSE attempted to rally late with ten minutes to play as the Screaming Eagles score three unanswered goals before Abington managed to settle down with the ball in the final six minutes, as Hayes capped her final two goals for the 12-7 win.
The Nittany Lions outshot the Screaming Eagles 44-16 and picked up 32 ground balls compared to 18 for CSE. Defensively, Abington forced 12 CSE turnovers and won 14 of the 22 draw controls.

Sandy Cao came up with five saves for the Nittany Lions, earning her first win of her career. Hayes led the squad with six goals and an assist to tie her single-game for most goals, while Kimberly posted her forth multi-goal game on the year.
Next up for the Nittany Lions is a trip to Wilson College on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. start as the squad looks to collect another win in the books.
