Cross Country Competes at NCAA Mid-East Regionals

The Penn State Abington cross country teams competed at the NCAA Mid-East Regionals hosted by Dickinson College Saturday.
 
The men's team finished 30th out of 47 teams, which is their highest regionals ranking ever. Junior Alex Kane (Doylestown, Pa.) led the Nittany Lions and finished 70th overall, out of 343 runners with a time of 26:40:6. Freshman Nelson Costa followed suit with a time of 28:28.2 for a 107th place finish. Senior Nicholas Volpe, in his last collegiate race,  crossed the line in 162nd place with a personal best time of 28:03:2.  Billy Donovan crossed the line with a 29:55:7. 
 
Other Abington finishers include Fahem Shah finishing in 266th with a personal best of 30:20.0. Shah will be heading off the University Park next year. 
 
The women finished 46th out of 52 teams and were led by sophomore Valerie Santangelo  with an 177th place finish for a time of 25:31.4. Junior Gina Montgomery crossed the line in 27:09.0 for the 267th spot, while Haley Burns finished in 290th place in 27:38.9

Other finishers include Kelly Hammond in 314th (28:27:3) and Jenine Santos in 319th (28:31:7).
