Women’s Lacrosse Dominates Lancaster Bible 13-1 in Final Home Game

HORSHAM, Pa – The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team (3-12, NEAC 3-5) beat the Lancaster Bible College Chargers (1-13, 1-6 NEAC) in the final home game of the season, 13-1.

The Nittany Lions were led by junior Katelyn Haas who racked up four goals and an assist, while teammate Katelyn Kelly contributed with three goals of her own. Avery Winn, Chasidy McLaurin, and Sara Sawick got in on the action with one goal apiece. As did Lyndsay Hoban, Victoria Parker, and Kaitlin Gossner, who all recorded their first goals of their career.

The Blue and White came out firing as Winn scored the first goal of the game followed by Haas and Kelly, who both scored off of free-position-shots making the score 3-0 at the 22:50 mark. Haas notched her second goal of the game seconds later. Then it was Hoban's turn as she found the net and less than a minute later before Parker got a wrap-around goal to make it 6-0 with 19:15 left on the clock.

Abington continued to capitalize on their forced turnovers on Lancaster Bible, scoring five more times and shutting the Chargers out 11-0 at the end of the first half.

The second half started much of the same with Abington scoring first on a shot from Sawick, taking the lead to 12-0. The Chargers answered back with a goal minutes later, making the score12-1 with 11:45 to go on the clock. The Blue and White would find the net one more time with Gossner scoring her first career goal for the final score of 13-1.

Tonight, Abington honored their seniors, Alyssa Kaye and Kaitlin Gossner. Kaye has accumulated 23 ground balls in her lacrosse career and stepped up to provide valuable minutes on defense, forcing 16 caused turnovers when the Nittany Lions needed them. Gossner has accumulated 48 ground balls, 38 draw controls, and has forced 32 caused turnovers, along with a goal and an assist in the 42 games played as a Nittany Lion so far.

With one game remaining on the schedule, Abington will look to close out their season with a road win in their final conference game against the College of Saint Elizabeth on Saturday, April 26. The first draw is set for 1:00 pm.
