MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTSWASHINGTON, D.C. – The men's and women's cross country squad had a first-hand experience of the 2014 North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship course today, hosted by Gallaudet University. The men's squad finished third out of six teams with 66 points, while the women's finished in second place out of five teams with 53 points on the day.
Junior
Alexander Kane (Doylestown, Pa.) was the top finisher of the men's race, beating 43 runners for a time of 27:12.23, while senior Nicholas Volple (Southampton, Pa.) completed the 8-kilometer course for a 9th place finish in 29:30.35.
Freshman
Nelson Costa Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa.) was on Volpe's heels as he cross the line with a time of 29:33.86 for a 10
th place finish, as
Billy Donovan (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) completed the course in 30:49.02 for the 19
th place spot. Fellow classmate
Faheem Shah (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished 29
th (33:31.17) followed by
Jeremy Castro (Clifton, N.J.) in 30
th (33:59.55) before junior
Jhon Pierre (Lancaster, Pa.) crossed the line for the 36
th place finish with a time of 36:28.11 to complete the Abington lineup.
On the women's side, sophomore
Valerie Santangelo (Abington, Pa.) led the pack for the Blue and White with a third place finish on the 6-kilometer course, 1:22.8 minutes behind the leader, for a time of 26:33.14.
Freshman
Haley Burns (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished in 7
th with a 27:48.15 time followed by junior
Gina Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa.) crossing the line in 28:41.47 for the 12
th place spot. Newcomer Jenine Santos (Springfield, N.J.) set a personal best record on the course, finishing in 18
th place (30:24.50), while
Kelly Hammond (Philadelphia, Pa.) crossed the line in 31:03.84 for the 20
th spot. Junior
Jacqualyn Horbury (Philadelphia, Pa.) completed her first race of the season with a 26
th place finish in 33:58.24 to round out the Blue and White line-up for Abington.

The Nittany Lions will return to action next Saturday as they prepare for the Dickinson College Invitational, home of the 2014 NCAA Mid-East Regional Championship. The race is slated for 8:00 a.m.
