FULL RESULTS
SALISBURY, Md. – The Penn State Abington men's and women's cross country team faced a tough challenge at the Don Cathcart Invitational, hosted by Salisbury University, Saturday morning.
Running with several Division I and II programs, the men's cross county squad posted a respectable 13
th place finish out of 20 teams. Junior
Alexander Kane (Doylestown, Pa.) led the pack on the 8-kilometer course for a 17
th place finish with a time of 25:58.4.
Freshman
Nelson Costa Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa.) completed the course in 27:58.1 for the 86
th spot, while senior
Nicholas Volpe (Southampton, Pa.) crossed the line in 28:31.8 for the 109
th place.
Billy Donovan (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) would finish the course in 127
th for a time of 29:45.8 with
Faheem Shah (Philadelphia, Pa.) completing the course for the 160
th spot in 31:48.2 to round out the squad.
On the women's side, four of the five runners completed the course for Penn State Abington with sophomore
Valerie Santangelo (Abington, Pa.) running along side top runners from the region to finish the 6-kilometer course in 24:28.8 for the 69
th spot.
Junior
Gina Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa.) was the second runner to cross the line for the 117
th place finish with a time of 26:52.2, while freshmen
Jenina Santos (Springfield, N.J.) and
Kelly Hammond (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished 125
th and 126
th place with a time of 27:23.3 and 27:23.5, respectively.
The Nittany Lions will be in action on Saturday, October 4th to participate in the Bryn Athyn College Invitational with the men's race at 9:0 a.m. followed by the women's race at 10:00 a.m.
