Abington Falls to Altoona

AUBURNDALE, FL – The Penn State Abington baseball team jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, but Abington couldn't hold on in a 17-6 loss to Penn State Altoona on Saturday afternoon. After today's loss the Nittany Lions drop to 5-6 overall.

Freshman Darren Aupperle (Barrington, NJ) had a career day at the plate going 2-of-3, with a double and knocking in three RBIs for the day.

Abington started the game hot with four hits in the first inning and scored four runs to take the lead.  Julio Aira IV (Miami Fla.) sparked the Nittany Lions offense with his RBI double to left field. Altoona started to chip away at the lead with two runs in the second inning, but Aupperle responded in the third with an RBI double.

Altoona went on a streak of 15 unanswered runs to put the game out of reach for Abington.

The Nittany Lions will be back in action when they return home on Friday when they host CCNY at 3:30 p.m.
