READING, PA. – The Penn State Abington baseball team traveled to Penn State Berks for the NEAC tournament, but the Nittany Lions fell to Penn College in game two 3-2, on Friday afternoon.
Before the game the NEAC Rookie of the Year
Ryan McCarty (Yardley, PA) and First Team selection
Stevie Stevenson (Westampton, NJ) for their fantastic season.
Abington earned the first runs of the game when Stevenson led off the inning with a double deep to right center field. Later in the inning McCarty drove him in with a sharp single down the left line.
Julio Aira IV (Miami Fla.) knocked in the final run of the inning with his sacrifice fly down to left field.
The Wildcats were on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, with two runners in scoring position and one out Penn College earned a run with a sacrifice fly.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning the Wildcats managed to get another two runs thanks to two consecutive singles.
Abington will face off against Keuka College tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. for the next round of the NEAC Tournament.
