GREENSBORO, NC. – The Penn State traveled down to North Carolina to open their season at Guilford College but fell to the Quakers 3-2 on Friday afternoon.

Stevie Stevenson (Westampton, NJ) drew a walk at every at bat, while sophomore
Ryan McCarty (Yardley, PA)and senior
Tyler DiPatri (Pedricktown, NJ) recorded doubles.
Abington was on the board first in the fourth inning after the Nittany Lions took advantage of error that allowed DiPatri to score the game's first run.
In the fifth inning the Quakers responded by tying the game after an error by the Nittany Lion infield. Later in the inning Guilford pulled ahead after scoring on a ground out.
The Quakers added to their lead in the seventh after scoring off of another error by the Nittany Lions to take a 3-1 lead.
The Nittany Lions rallied in the ninth inning when Dipatri earned a sac fly to right field, but Abington couldn't put another run across the plate to force extra innings.
Abington will be back in action against Guilford tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
