ABINGTON, PA. – ABINGTON, Pa. – Throughout the year the Penn State Abington Athletic Department will take a look back at some of the interesting facts, and big events that happened each year starting from 2012.
 
Season Facts:
Senior Cross Country runner Valery Santangelo earns the Legislative Citation Award.

Senior Sam Amaro became the first and only Women's Volleyball player to earn 1000 career kills.

Abington earns NEAC Athletic Directors Cup.

Accomplishments:
Men's Soccer Head Coach David Castellanos earned the NEAC Coach of the Year award and his 100
th career win at Penn State Abington that season.  The Nittany Lions went on to the NEAC Semifinals but fell to Keuka College.
 
Cross Country Head Coach Jose Rodriguez earned the NEAC Coach of the Year award after guiding the men's team to their highest finish in the NEAC Championships in second overall.
 
The Women's Lacrosse program soared to their best ever season in 2017. The Nittany Lions went 12-2 and hosted the NEAC Tournament for the first time in program history. Head Coach Noelle Powell earned the NEAC Coach of the Year award, while five student athletes made the NEAC All-Conference Teams.  In her only season with the Nittany Lions, sophomore Marah Hayes shattered single season records in goals, draw controls, assists, ground balls, and caused turnovers. Although the Nittany Lions were the regular season champions, they fell in the first round of the NEAC Tournament.
 
Senior Mike Lam earned his second NEAC Golfer of the Year Award to close out his outstanding career with the Nittany Lions.  Lam led the Nittany Lions to a third overall finish at the NEAC Championships.
