Abington, Pa. – Penn State Abington junior Justin Fogel and redshirt-sophomore Alex Margot were named to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week for games played from April 10-16 as announced by the organization on Wednesday.  The Team of the Week is D3Baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its 12th season of recognizing the top performers of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information director. This is the ninth Team of the Week of the 2023 season.

This is the third time this season that Fogel has been recognized on the D3Baseball.com's Team of the Week.  He previously received the honors in the organization's fourth and sixth edition of the weekly award.  Earlier this week, Fogel was named the United East Conference (UEC) Player of the Week for the third time.

Fogel had a stellar week at the plate as he batted .625 (10-for-16) to go along with 10 runs, 14 RBI, one double and six home runs.  In addition, he extended his hitting streak to 21 straight games (now 22 with his 1-for-4 performance at Stockton University on Tuesday).

Fogel highlighted the week going 5-for-6 with seven runs, seven RBI and four home runs in the team's doubleheader sweep against St. Mary's College this past Saturday.  The Yardley native also hit a home run in the finale the next day for his 14th homer of the season and 24th of his career.

In 30 games this season, Fogel is batting a career-high .524 which ranks second best in all of Division III.  He has totaled career-highs in doubles (14), triples (2), runs (48), RBI (50) and home runs (14).

Margot is the second pitcher to be recognized on the D3Baseball's Team of the Week this year for the Nittany Lions joining senior Brandon Hightower who was featured in week four.  Margot, who was also just named the United East Pitcher of the Week, pitched a gem of a game in the opener of the doubleheader against St. Mary's this past Saturday.  Margot flirted with a no-hitter as he went 6.2 innings without allowing a single hit.  He settled for a complete game one-hit shutout as he picked up his third win of the season.  Margot struck out a career-high 12 batters.

This season Margot owns a 3-2 record in seven starts.  In 38.1 innings of work, Margot has totaled 48 strikeouts which ranks second in the United East only behind teammate Hightower who has 57. Margot is also tops in the conference in opposing batting average holding opponents to just a .189 batting average.  He's allowed only 27 hits this year; third fewest in the United East.

Abington resumes United East play this weekend as the Nittany Lions begin a three-game series at Gallaudet University starting on Friday, April 21 with a single game.  First pitch from the Nation's Capital is set for 3 p.m.
