Gamble, Scotese Earn All-United East Honors

Latham, Pa. – Penn State Abington senior Hailey Gamble and sophomore Lainey Scotese were both named to the All-United East Conference (UEC) Softball teams with the release of the all-conference and major awards as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Gamble was named to the All-United East first team for the second straight season, while Scotese garnered All-United East third team honors.

Gamble, a two-time All-United East selection, had a stellar senior campaign as she batted a career-high .386 to go along with career numbers in hits (49), doubles (9), walks (12), on-base percentage (.443) and stolen bases (7). Gamble registered at least one hit in 31-of-38 games played in, including a stretch of 17 straight games with a hit.

During the team's annual spring trip to Myrtle Beach, Gamble recorded her 100^th career hit becoming the sixth player in program history to reach the milestone. With her 49 hits on the year, Gamble finished her career with 146 hits which ranks fourth all-time. In addition, Gamble tied the program record for most triples with 16 and finished with a career .350 batting average; ninth highest in program history. Furthermore, Gamble ranks third in runs scored (94), fourth in doubles (28) and fifth in RBI (84).

In her first year of collegiate action, Scotese batted .391 while collecting 43 hits, including seven doubles, three triples and one home run. She also drove in 29 runs and scored 22. Scotese recorded a season-high three hits four times during the course of the season highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance in game one of a doubleheader in which two of her three hits were doubles. She drove in a season-high four runs in the opener versus Gwynedd Mercy with her first career triple.

Abington (15-24, 9-7 UEC) finished conference play 9-7 and as a result qualified for the postseason for the 12^th time advancing to the United East Second Round.
