Abington Partakes in Monarch Open

RESULTS

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's track & field team competed at the Monarch Open hosted by King's College on Saturday at Betzler Outdoor Track.
 
Meet Highlights
 
* Freshman Bobby Caruso recorded the team's top overall finish as he came in second overall in the javelin throw.  Caruso recorded a distance of 115'7" (35.23m).
 
* Freshman Joseph Mahon finished in the top 10 in three different events.  He highlighted the day with a fifth place showing in the 100-meters where he finished in a personal-best time of 11.95 seconds.  Mahon finished ninth in the 400-meters in a time of 57.43 seconds and was 10th in the 200-meters in 24.96 seconds.
 
* In the 1,500-meters, freshman Jackie Chen set a personal-best time of 4:57.85 as he finished 11th overall in the event.
 
* Freshman Dan Kulb set two new personal-best times in the 800-meters and the 1,500-meters.  In the 800-meters, Kulb finished in 2:34.51 and in the 1,500-meters recorded a time of 5:14.47.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action next weekend as the Nittany Lions compete in the United East Championships.  Keystone College will serve as host of the two-day championship.
