Lady Lions Drops NEAC Conference to SUNY IT

The Penn State Abington women's basketball team dropped its sixth North Eastern Athletic Conference game with a 77-52 decision to SUNY IT on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, Abington remains winless, while the Wildcats improve to 9-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference.

Abington could not find the rhythm throughout the contest as SUNY IT came out ahead on a 7-0 scoring streak before freshman Gabrielle Benedict posted a 3-pointer to put the Lady Lions on the board at the 17:36 mark.

The Wildcats continued to dominate the basket throughout the first half as they extended a 39-25 lead at the half.

Hoping to bounce back, Abington attempted to catch up in the first four minutes of the second stanza, as Trish Watson nailed a 3-pointer to reduce the deficit to eight. SUNY IT answered back with a 9-0 run and eventually expanded the lead to 64-40 with 8:03 remaining in the game.

Abington could not muster a comeback and suffered their eleventh straight loss of the season with a 77-52 decision.

Junior Trish Watson finished the game with 14 points for the Lady Lions, as teammate Gabrielle Benedict collected nine points, eight rebounds, and four steals.

Abington will return to action at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at and will host the Penn State Berks.
