Volleyball Defeats Cazenovia 3-1, Clinches Playoff Spot

Box Score ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington volleyball team kept its conference playoff opportunity alive after defeating Cazenovia College 3-1 (25- 23, 25-23, 25-27, 25-23).
 
The Lady Lions wrapped up the North Eastern Athletic Conference Crossover Tournament 2-1 overall, losing to Keuka College 3-2 on Saturday. Abington is now 17-9 overall and 6-5 in the conference and clinched the sixth and final spot of the playoff berth. This is the first time in program history that volleyball has qualified for the conference postseason playoffs since joining the NEAC in 2009.
 
Freshman Abby Millan led the Lady Lions with 13 kills and 23 digs, recording her 13th double-doubles of the season. Johangelie Thomas followed closely behind with 14 kills and 16 digs, her seventh double-doubles of the season, while Leah Brown recorded 39 out of 116 total assists on the weekend.
 
Senior Krysten Boyd was strong on defense for Abington, tallying 28 out of 104 total digs on the weekend. Kate Schalck came up with 11 kills and a solo block in the victory.
 
The Lady Lions wrap up the 2012 regular season on Tuesday at Bryn Athyn College. After that, Abington will be busy preparing for the first round of the NEAC Conference Championship on November 2nd.
