The Penn State Abington baseball team used a six-run eighth inning to clinch its third straight win with a 14-3 decision over Philadelphia Biblical University this evening.

The Nittany Lions were hungry for a third straight win and after two innings of no score from either team,
Matt Lawson posted the double into play, bringing
Pat Moran and
Dustin Kology safe at home for Abington's 2-0 lead in the top of third. Lawson later added the third run for Abington off of Ditro's sacrificed bunt to close out the inning.
Abington's powerful bats did not stop as the Nittany Lions added three additional runs in the fifth inning as
Bill Parave doubled, plating
Tom Ditro and
Mike Kerns at home for two RBIs of the game. AJ Vagliani credited an RBI off a sacrificed fly to bring Parave home to extend the lead to 6-0.
The Nittany Lions showed their true strength at the plate in the eighth inning as
Daniel Hill slammed the ball out of the park for his first solo home run of the season. Freshman
Jesse Goldstein started the parade of runs, hitting the ball into play for a single to net an RBI. Lawson followed suit with a double adding two more runs to total his fourth RBIs of the night.
The pitching woes continued on for the Crimson Eagles as Ditro singled, collecting an RBI on the play. Philadelphia's pitchers could not find the strike zone as they surrendered a run after walking a batter with bases loaded, giving Abington the 14-0 lead at the end of the eighth inning.
Philadelphia was held to just three runs in the remainder of the game as the Nittany Lions earned their third straight and its eighth win of the season.
Junior
Michael Corrigan threw four scoreless frames in his first stint on the mound, striking out two batters, walking three, and gave up just one hit. Sophomore
Chris Marone also pitched two scoreless innings, striking out two and gave up just two hits.
Abington will continue its five-game trek in six days as it travels to New Jersey tomorrow, with a 3:30 p.m. matchup against Rutgers-Camden.
