Rutgers-Newark scored all of its runs in the third inning in a 5-2 win over Penn State Abington in Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The loss snaps Abington's six-game win streak.
The Raiders piled up seven of their 12 hits in the third with senior third baseman Tim Miller's 2-run single to right field starting the scoring. A sacrifice fly by senior catcher Anthony Palladino followed by RBI singles by freshman second baseman Andrew Nasti and sophomore leftfielder Jason McCluskey brought in the other runs.

Mike Kerns was the only score Abington could muster against Rutgers-Newark's junior right-hander Kyle Van Vliet, who got the win by going six full innings, striking out nine and walking two against five hits.
The Nittany Lions hosts Stockton College tomorrow for a doubleheader with the first game starting at 12 p.m.
